Viewer32

*UNDERCONSTRUCTION*

Back to VNC. VNCX    Screenshots

Viewer32 is an MFC wrapper for my VNCX ActiveX control.
This currently is only an experimental 'proof of concept' release, designed to allow me to experiement with MFC to make sure I can do everything I need.

I'll most likely write a more advanced Viewer later on based on VNCX that supports MDI etc.

Lincense

Viewer32 is free and supplied as is.  I make no guaruntees that it is safe to use in anyway.  Use it at your own risk.  I take ABSOLUTELY no responsibilities for what VNCX will do.

Download

Read the license before downloading!

Sorry there's no easy 'setup.exe' yet, but as I said, this is pretty experimental (though it works pretty well :)).
In order to use Viewer32, you must download VNCX as well.

VNCX_0.9.2.zip 143KB 0.9.2 This archive now includes VNCX and Viewer32.
VNCX_0.9.1.zip 144KB 0.9.1 This archive now includes VNCX and Viewer32.
VIEWER32.EXE 68.0KB 0.0.0.2 The program itself (requires you to update (follow install procedures) to VNCX 0.0.0.2)

Viewer32 is dynamically linked with some core windows dlls, but you require the following updated DLLs if you have a vanilla install of Win95 (eg. you haven't installed IE4 or Office or ICQ or another major application).
Most Windows 95 systems will have these DLLs already.  Windows 98, NTSP5 and Windows 2000 will have all these DLLs included.

MFC42.DLL

902.8KB 6.0.400 Microsoft Foundation Classes.
MSVCRT.DLL 288.1KB 6.10.8637.0 C runtimes.
COMCTL32.DLL 448KB 4.72.3110.1 Updated common controls.

Installation guide for 0.9.x

  • Create a folder where you want to put Viewer32.  I'll assume you want to put it in C:\Viewer32 from here on.
  • Download the archive and unzip the contents to C:\Viewer32.
  • Double click on Viewer32.exe to run.

Installation guide for 0.0.2

  • Create a folder where you want to put Viewer32.  I'll assume you want to put it in C:\Viewer32 from here on.
  • Download VNCX.  You can choose to put VNCX.DLL in C:\Viewer32 or WINNT\SYSTEM32 (NT) or WINDOWS\SYSTEM (95/98) depending on what you prefer.  You don't need to follow the install instructions because Viewer32 will automatically find and register VNCX.DLL when it can't find it in the registry.
  • Download Viewer32, and put it in C:\Viewer32.
  • Run Viewer32 by double clicking on the Viewer32.exe
  • WIN95: If you get an error like regarding mfc42.dll or msvcrt.dll then you need to download them (above) and put them in your Windows\System folder.  You will need to drop out to DOS to do this, but remember to backup your originals!
  • WIN95: If you get an "unable to create empty document" error, then you don't have the latest version of microsoft's windows common controls, since Viewer32 uses IE style 'coolbars'.  Download it and put it in your System folder too.

Tips
  • Press Alt+Ctrl+F11 to go into or out of fullscreen.  Press Alt+Ctrl+Space before this if you want to send Alt+Ctrl+F11 to the remote desktop rather than go into fullscreen.
  • Press Alt+Ctrl+Backspace to send Alt+Ctrl+Delete.
  • Hold down shift while the mouse is inside the remote desktop, and your mouse will be 'trapped' inside the desktop, useful if you want to use 'autoscrolling'.
